VARP has several standing committees as outlined in the association’s bylaws. Each committee plays a key role in supporting our mission. Chairs are appointed by the President, and committee members are selected by each chair.
The information below is based on the VARP Bylaws with added notes to clarify roles, expectations, and current vacancies.
Chair: Vacant | Volunteers Needed
Responsible for overseeing all communications with members and the public, including the newsletter, website, and member directory. Minimum 2 members.
Chair: Mike Pease, Mid-Atlantic Roofing Supply
Manages VARP’s annual golf tournaments—course selection, logistics, and promotion. Requires at least 3 members.
Chair: VARP President
Includes all elected officers. Prepares the annual budget, reviews financials, and recommends financial strategies to the Board.
Chair: Rick Heath, Architectural Exterior Solutions
Monitors public policy issues affecting the industry, recommends legislation and regulatory policies, and keeps members informed. Minimum 2 members.
Chair: Immediate Past President
Includes current and past board members. Advises the Board on strategic goals and future initiatives.
Chair: Kerry Jackson, Baker Roofing
Focuses on recruiting new members and retaining existing ones. Also makes membership recommendations to the Board. Must include at least 1 Contractor, 1 Supplier, and 1 Manufacturer.
Representative: Sherri Miles, JD Miles & Sons Roofing
Represents VARP to the National Roofing Contractors Association, attends NRCA meetings, and reports back on industry issues.
Chair: Immediate Past President
Handles Board nominations, annual awards (Contractor, Supplier, Associate of the Year), Hall of Fame selections, and grievance resolution. Includes past presidents and two at-large members.
Chair: Vacant | Volunteers Needed
Develops VARP’s annual education plan and calendar. Includes at least 5 members: 3 contractors and 2 distributors/manufacturers.
Chair: Thomas Easter, Roof Services a Tecta America Company
Oversees site selection, pricing, sponsorships, and volunteer coordination for VARP’s Sporting Clays Tournament. Minimum 3 members.
Chair: Todd Scanlon, TST Roofing & Glazing
Plans the annual conference—venue selection, programming, and promotion. Minimum 3 members.
