The Roofing Food Chain: What I Learned During 41 Years in the Roofing Industry, presented by Mitch Reaves

Mitch Reaves got his start in roofing as an outside sales rep at NB Handy in 1979. By 1996, he had worked his way up to President/CEO of the company, responsible for financial performance, strategic direction, and execution of the sales and operational plans. In 2016, Mitch moved to the other side of the business by acquiring the assets of the former W A Lynch Roofing Co. of Lynchburg and forming Craftsman Roofing. Before selling Craftsman, Mitch and the core team that he inherited had grown the business from historical levels of $2.5 million sales to $7.3 million with profitability above typical industry standards in 5 years.

During his talk, Mitch will contrast the experiences of being a CEO for a major regional distributor to the experience of buying and restoring to financial success a fixer upper roofing business. He will discuss how distribution assesses a great versus not so great customer and how contractors do the same for distribution as potential suppliers. He will cover the supply chain dynamics (Manufacturer-Distribution-Contractor) and how a healthy relationship is critical to everyone's success and what that entails.

Flipped Panel: Tips, Best Practices, & Work Hacks

This “flipped panel” lets attendees hear from each other, our audience of roofing industry movers and shakers. This session will provide a low-pressure platform for industry peers to share ideas, tips, best practices, and work hacks.
